Flux is the proud recipient of two NYC Fringe Festival Awards: In 2007 the Village Voice Audience Favorite Award for August Schulenburg’s Riding the Bull and in 2008 for Heather Cohn’s “Outstanding Direction” of Other Bodies. nytheatre.com chose Flux Theatre Ensemble as one of their “People of the Year” for 2008 saying “This rising theatre company had a hit in the New York International Fringe Festival with Other Bodies, written by artistic director August Schulenburg, and then went on to mount the fall’s most ambitious indie show, Johnna Adams’s Angel Eaters Trilogy.” In 2008, The New York Press called Flux “The Best Underappreciated Indie Theatre Company Whose Work You Should Get Your Ass To”.

Mind The Gap

Mission Statement: Mind The Gap Theatre exists to find, read, evaluate, develop and ultimately produce new British theatrical writing in New York City. While our focus is on presenting new British works, with a company of mad talented actors and playwrights from BOTH sides of the pond, we occasionally like to show off what the Yanks in our company can do by taking a new American play to the UK.

We are eager to read and present plays from all over the British Isles to achieve a level of regional, ethnic and gender diversity.

The ultimate goal of Mind The Gap is not merely to present readings, workshops and short plays but to bring to life the highest quality productions. It is our goal to present 1-3 new full-length productions in New York City in addition to the BRITSBITS festival, a showcase of roughly 25 short plays that are critiqued by members of the company.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: NYR Studios Offering Discounted Rates

NYR Studios is offering discounted rates for its rehearsal studios during the month of September. We are under new, arts-oriented management in an effort to create an artistic community in conjunction with our rehearsal spaces.

The studios are housed in the Workmen’s Circle Building, at 45 E. 33rd Street on the 6th floor. The building is conveniently located next to the 6 subway line on the east side (near 33rd and Park Avenue). Rooms are available in sizes ranging from 8x11 to 30x24 with prices ranging from $7 to $30, respectively. Four of the aforementioned rooms include a well-tuned piano for music lessons. There are also studios set up for various forms of dance.

In addition to the rehearsal rooms available on the 6th floor, the 1st floor of the building offers an intimate 70 seat theater. This space is perfect for fundraisers, networking events, performances, or staged readings. Basic sound and light packages are included in the affordable and negotiable rental rate.

What sets NYR Studios apart is not just its convenient location in Midtown Manhattan. We are a completely artist-run facility. Currently, there are multiple resident companies who volunteer their time in exchange for the community that NYR Studios builds. Because of this, we are an extremely friendly, understanding, and accommodating space. We also create excellent networking opportunities for artists of all ages and professional backgrounds.

The hours of operation for NYR Studios are as follows: Monday through Thursday from 10AM to 10PM, and Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10AM to 7PM. Please contact nyrstudios.bookings@gmail.com or call at 212.686.5020 to discuss rental options.
